Title: SQL Server-XML-Lesson 4-Using modify() to replace and delete xml data that match an XPath expression

Duration:  15 minutes

Summary: In this video, we continue the discussion of different faces of modify(). In the previous video, we saw how to use modify() to insert some data. Here we extend this functionality to see how we can replace some data using ‘replace value of..with..’. The we explored the use of nodes() and it use with value(). We created an xml variable and stored some employee information in it. Then we used nodes() that shreds the xml data, and displayed the data selected using value().

Methodology of the development of example: Good coding standard and simplified design to illustrate the key points.

Technology Used: XML and SQL Server 2008.

Keywords: XML, update, replace, delete, select, from, value, nodes.
